Eleanora (Jorgensen) Smith

Eleanora Smith, age 89, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2014, at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center.  Eleanora was born in Racine on November 24, 1924, daughter of the late Christian and Minna (Nee:  Thompson) Jorgensen.

Eleanora was a graduate of Washington Park High School and later from St. Luke’s Nursing School.  She was united in marriage to Kenneth O. Smith, who preceded her in death in November of 1988.  Eleanora was employed for many years at various school districts as a public health nurse.  She was a longtime member of Meadowbrook Country Club, and RING (Racine Retired Inactive Nurses Group).   An accomplished freelance artist, Eleanora enjoyed the classes at Wustum Art Museum and several of her water color and acrylic pieces were displayed in local exhibits.  She loved spending time with ladies Taco Tuesdays dinner club.  She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bradley Smith (Alice Portz) of Medina, WA; her grandson, Riley Smith of Los Angeles, CA; brother and sister-in-law, Anker (Louise) Jorgensen  of Portland, OR; sister-in-law, Gladys Brown of Menomonie, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Elly Pedersen and Edel Colt.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.  Memorials to the Charles A. Wustum Museum of Fine Arts for educational funding, P.O. Box 187, Racine, WI  53401-0187 have been suggested.
