Norma I. Janecky, age 83, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014. Norma was born in Racine on March 31, 1931, daughter of the late Soren and Margrete (Nee: Olesen) Nielsen.
On March 24, 1956, Norma was united in marriage to Fredrick Janecky, who preceded her in death on January 18, 1984. She proudly served as Sam Johnson’s first administrative assistant, while employed with S.C. Johnson. Norma was a longtime member of Plymouth Congregational Church. An avid golfer and duplicate bridge player, she loved her time with her friends playing in various golf leagues and bridge groups. Norma also enjoyed cooking, and kept her mind sharp with crossword puzzles and studying the stock market. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Betty Janecky and their family, Helen Kupka, Martha Kaynatma, Nick Janecky, Candice (Randy) Kutter, Lois Janecky and their family, David Janecky, Susan Chealander, Karen Johnson; cousins, Myrna Olesen, Eric and Lisa Olesen, Robin Olesen and Michael and Mary Olesen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her niece, Jane Jacobson; brothers-in-law, George Janecky and Richard Jaecky; and cousins, Raymond Olesen and Dale Olesen.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 14, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Glenn Lawson officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Monday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.Memorials to the Racine Community Foundation have been suggested.
