Maxine C. Erby, age 67, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. Maxine was born in Kenosha, WI, on January 26, 1947, daughter of the late Michael and Maxine (Nee: Glockner) Biegler.
Maxine received a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She was employed by Safe Haven for fifteen years and last worked at the Racine Correctional Institute until her retirement in 2008. On June 7, 1974, she was united in marriage to John Erby. She and her husband, John, owned and operated Salt and Pepper Lounge for a number of years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Maxine enjoyed dancing and solving jigsaw puzzles. More than anything, she cherished her family and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her loving husband of thirty-nine years, John; her sons, Michael Prestidge of Kenosha, Tom Behm of Colorado; her grandchildren, Crystal, Robert, Nicole and Ashley; her stepfather, Frances Young of Racine; sisters, Darlene Krenke of Arkansas, Marion (John) Sommerfeldt, Barbara (Emra) Palen, all of Arizona; brothers-in-law, Willie Erby of Milwaukee, Rod Erby of Mississippi; sister-in-law, Levora Harris of Alabama; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery, Town of Dover. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Memorials to Safe Haven have been suggested.
