Hedwig M. 'Hattie' (Hein) Davis

Hedwig M. “Hattie” Davis, age 88, passed away on Saturday April 12, 2014, at Franciscan Villa in South Milwaukee. Hattie was born in Racine on September 13, 1925, daughter of the late John and Amalia (nee: Burchart) Hein.

On October 23, 1948, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Racine, she was united in marriage to Lorin Davis, who preceded her in death on May 16, 2005.

She was employed at the YWCA for many years. Hattie was a member of Lutheran Chapel of the Cross and former member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church and their Ladies Guild. Hattie enjoyed her bowling and golf leagues. She loved swimming, and feeding the birds, fish and animals at her retirement house in Hazelhurst.

Survivors include her children, Tom (Sue) Davis of Berlin Heights, OH, Barb (James) Barker of Racine, William (Mary) Davis of Union Grove; her grandchildren, Hannah Davis, Andrew (Lindsay) Davis, Emily Davis and Kimberly Davis; great-grandchildren, Weston, Nolan, Jack and Carter; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mary (Chuck) Stratman, Erna (Claude) Waite, Anne (Floyd) Larson; and sister-in-law, Joyce (Sherwin) Reiche.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday April 16, 2014, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Brian Liermann officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.
