Allen W. Gill

Allen W Gill, 83, passed away peacefully at Harmony Assisted Living of Racine on Friday, September 17, 2010. He was born on August 11, 1927, in Benton Township, to the late Enos and Velma (Nee:Tarrell) Gill.  He was united in marriage with Gwen Gray, on December 27, 1950, in Cuba City, Wisconsin. 

Allen is survived by his wife, Gwen; daughter, Heidi Gill (Bob Forrer); son, Scott (Lynn) Gill; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his brother, Robert Gill; and many nieces and nephews.    He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Paul, and two sons, Greg and Jeffery. 

Allen graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a Bachelor of Science degree. He began his career by teaching high school agriculture in Lena and Richland Center, Wisconsin. He became a 4-H agent in 1957 in Oconto, WI, and retired in 1986 after 25 years of service as Racine County’s 4-H agent.  He loved his work and spending time with his family.  He also loved to research the family genealogy, work on his cars, plan household projects and cheer on his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3825 Erie St., Wednesday, September 22, at 11 a.m., the Reverend Rosalind Dryver-Scott officiating.  A private internment will be held. Friends and relatives will be welcome to meet with the family for visitation from 10 until time of service at the church.

Memorials in his memory may be made to the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation or Trinity United Methodist Church.

A very special thank-you to all the caregivers at Harmony Assisted Living, for their loving and compassionate care given to Allen.
