Kathryn Wynstra

Mrs. Kathryn Wynstra, 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 22, 2010.

Kathryn was born in Kenosha to the late Benjamin and Agnes (nee: DeVries) Bosman on August 14, 1921. She grew up in Kenosha until she married Charles Wynstra on August 6, 1943. She had lived in Racine since then.

Mrs. Wynstra was a strong Christian and a faithful member of Calvary Memorial Church. She was a member of the church guild and helped with Sunday school. She also volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital. Kathryn was a faithful letter writer for about 25 years and she enjoyed baking, cooking and gardening. Recently, she was the Homecoming Queen of Ridgewood Care Center. Most importantly, she was a warm and loving wife, mother and grandmother who touched everyone’s heart.

Kathryn is survived by her children, Charlotte (William) Johnson and Ken (Kay) Wynstra; five grandchildren, William (Kristen) Johnson, Sharon Beiley, Stephen Johnson, Todd (Dayna) Wynstra and Jodie (Adam) Willey; ten great-grandchildren, Nicholas (Samantha) Orth, Samantha Johnson, Tiffany Beiley, Brittney Orth, Neil Johnson, Alexander Beiley, Logan Wynstra, Caitlin Wynstra, Julia Willey and Brady Wynstra; four great-great-grandchildren, Joseph Christman, Arianna Orth, Maximus Martinez and Isabella Orth (The Ken and Kay Wynstra family, children and grandchildren, all live in the state of Colorado); one sister, Alice (Peter) Jansen; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wynstra on March 22, 2002; and one son, Danny Wynstra on February 18, 1977.

A funeral ceremony will be held at Calvary Memorial Church, 4001 Washington Avenue, on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 10 a.m. with Rev. John Bylsma officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday, September 26, 2010, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. and on Monday morning at the church, from 9 a.m. until the time of the ceremony. Memorials may be directed to Calvary Memorial Church.

The Wynstra family would like to express a special thank you to the staffs at Ridgewood Care Center and Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints for the kind and compassionate care they gave to Kathryn.
