Rosemarie Kroes

RoseMarie Kroes, age 78, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2010, at her home surrounded by her loving family after a brave battle with cancer. Rose was born in Racine on February 23, 1932, to John and Tekla (Nee: Narlock) Lukawski.

On May 10, 1952, Rose was united in marriage to George C. Kroes Jr. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Rose was a wonderful housewife and mother. Also, she was a bookkeeper for the family farm. She enjoyed cooking, gambling, and shopping. Most of all, she enjoyed and loved her cat, Lucy. Rose collected bells for many years and started a new hobby collecting miniature shoes.

Rose is survived by her husband, George; seven children, Sharon Kroes of WA, Diane (Allen) Sinner, Randall (Joann) Kroes, Debbie (Jim) Roeder, Jeanne Kroes (Ray Wagner), Julie (Dan) Nelson, Ron Kroes, all of Racine; six grandchildren, Brian (Tracy) Sinner, Karen (Carl) Johnson, Gina Sinner, Kelly, Craig and Mark Roeder; three great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Rose is also survived by her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Zerzanek, Dorie Madala, Josie Polcin, Elaine Kroes, Pat Kroes, Paul Kroes, Ted (Lorrie) Kroes. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and a special cousin, Mary Ann House.

Rose was preceded in death by her mother and father, John and Tekla Lukawski; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Josephine Kroes; infant brother, Arthur; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dolores (Leo) Janikowski, Catherine (Robert) Keenan; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rudolph Zerzanek, John Madala, John Polcin, John (Pat) Kroes, Lambert Kroes, Henry Kroes, and Louise Kroes.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 18, 2010, at noon at the funeral home with Rev. Stephen J. Stradinger officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the funeral home from 8:30 a.m. until time of service at noon. Memorials to St. Rita Catholic Church or to the American Cancer Society have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Brenda Pierce and the entire staff at Oncology Alliance of Franklin, WI, Metz Medical and Vitas Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
