Ruby Pearl (Schultz) Shidell

Ruby Pearl Shidell, 87, was surrounded by her family as she passed away peacefully, at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center, going home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born in Wausau, on Dec. 14, 1922, to the late Henry and Bertha (nee: Behnke) Schultz. She lived in Racine for 51 years since 1959. She graduated from Wausau High School Class of 1941.

In Wausau, she worked as a telephone operator. She was a receptionist for many companies, and then she was a Senior In-Home Healthcare Giver retiring at the age of 80 years. She was a very active member of First Evangelical Free Church since 1972. She was involved in many activities with the church: Sunday school teacher, choir and the senior club “One Day Closer.” Ruby was a volunteer with White Cross Missionary Work. She touched many lives, a very giving person with a heart of gold. She was a very special friend to all. She was a hometown Packer, Brewer and Badger fan. She was very good at whistling songs, along with enjoying her crafts, such as sewing, knitting and crocheting. Ruby was the glue that kept the family together. She was our family precious gem, Ruby Pearl.

Ruby is the loving mother of two children; Larry (Mai) Shidell of Copperas Cove, TX, and Vivian Webster of Racine; the loving grandmother of ten, Dawn (Doug) Vorwald, Debbie (Brian) Kowalski, Dale (Robin) Webster, Dion Webster, Denim Webster, Ann Gibbs, Bini (Mike) Sanders, Missy Shidell, Brenda (Rian) Harden, James Shidell; the loving great-grandmother of 20, Jeremy, Jesse, Shawna, Stephanie, Brandon, Dayl Leigh, Taylor, Dylan, Thad, Jennifer, Jessica, Jason, Sierra, Skylar, Shayna, Monique, Cedric, Riley, Braedon, Rudy; and the loving great-great-grandmother of four. She is also survived by one brother, Wilbur “Nookie” (Etta) Schultz; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Shidell, Barbara Priebe, Ruthie Shidell; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends too numerous to mention. She was preceded in death by two sisters; seven brothers; and her former husband, Alfred Shidell.

Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home 1212 Lathrop Ave., on Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at 6 p.m. with Rev. John Bodnar officiating. Friends may meet with the family at the funeral home from 4-6 p.m.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff and care givers at Lincoln Lutheran Convalescent Center for their special kindness and loving care given to Ruby.
