Bernice Nietupski

Bernice Nietupski, passed away Monday, January 10, 2011, in Waukesha County, WI, at the age of 86. Bernice was born on November 15, 1924, to Antony Nietupski and Anna (Lomasz) in Racine, WI. She was a lifetime resident of Racine and member of St. Stanislaus Church and school and St. Edward’s Church. She graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1943.

She is survived by her nieces: Mary Jo Nietupski, husband Richard Tritz, their daughter Bridgette Tritz; and Paula Post (nee Nietupski), husband Dennis Post and their wonderful sons, Jacob (Stephanie Russell Biondi) and Izak; and Roseanne Nietupski. She is also survived by her grandnephew Christopher Nietupski and his mother Susan Hamre-Nietupski, (wife of the late John A. Nietupski). She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Alex and his wife Evelyn (LaBoda); her sister Ann; brother Stanley and his wife Sarah Jane (Fodera); brother John and his wife Elsie (Ambrose); infant brother Victor.

She worked 16 years at Webster Electric. In her first years there she produced gearboxes for Navy anti-aircraft guns. She then worked 24 years at Walker Mfg. Co. In retirement she lived with her loving sister, Ann, with whom she traveled the world. She regularly volunteered for Toys for Tots in Racine. One year, she and Ann refurbished and outfited dozens of dolls for Toys for Tots.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 15, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, 1401 Grove Ave., Racine, with Reverend Allen Bratkowski officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Catherine’s High School (tuition assistance endowment) are appreciated.
