James Andrew Naleid, age 87, died on January 23, 2011, at East Castle Place in Milwaukee, WI, surrounded by family.
He was born in Racine, WI, on March 11, 1923, to Arthur and Loretta (Cape) Naleid. He married Gloria E. Chesnut at Holy Trinity Church in Racine on December 29, 1945, after completing his service in the US Army as a navigator during World War II.
On March 13, 1974, Mr. Naleid married Ada (Toni) Smith Christensen at St. Rose Church, now St. Richard Parish. She survives him.
After working for 20 years at Western Publishing Company, he left the company in 1970 to co-found Heritage Realty Inc. with James L. Dickert (now Coldwell Banker Residential). In 1983 he sold his interest to Mr. Dickert and retired from the real estate business.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his six children, Chris McAuliffe, William (Maribeth) Naleid, Linda (Douglas) Klopp, James (Cynthia) Naleid, Jane (Ronald) Zwiefka, Nancy (Mark) Petersen; three step-children, Peter (Rose) Christensen, Ann (Michael) Flegel and Lisa (Frederick) Ruder; 25 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his two brothers and two sisters-in-law, William (Yolanda) Naleid and Robert (Carol) Naleid. A third brother, Colonel Jerome F. Naleid, died in 2000. His widow, Patricia, died in 2006.
Visitation with the family from 9:30 – 11 a.m. will precede the Liturgy and Celebration of his life at 11 a.m., which will take place at St. Richard’s Parish on Friday morning, Jan. 28, with Rev. Ronald J. Gramza officiating. The Church is located at 1509 Grand Ave., Racine, WI 53403. Memorials to St. Richard’s Parish were his wishes. Funeral arrangements are being taken care of by Maresh Meredith Funeral Home of Racine.
