Alan M. Nienhaus

Surrounded by his loving family, Alan M. Nienhaus, age 72, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012, at his residence. Alan was born in Burlington, WI, on February 25, 1940, son of the late Alois and Rosella (Nee: Christman) Nienhaus.

Alan proudly served in the United States Army. On November 28, 1964, he was united in marriage to June D. Forthun. Alan was employed by Robert Bosch Corporation for thirty years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. Alan had a great love for traveling and enjoyed playing cards with relatives and friends. More than anything, he cherished time with his family and friends up north at their cottage in Wautoma. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife of forty-six years, June; his children, Rev. Todd (Rev. Sheila) Nienhaus of Racine, Jodi Rye (fiancé, Bill Leu) of Oshkosh; his grandchildren, Alicia and Preston Rye, Kala, Marcus and Tracy Baskin; his great-grandchildren, DeAsia and Mya Baskin; brother, Donald (Rita) Nienhaus; sister, Joyce (Bruce) Bauman; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Roger Forthun, Lorraine Hutchinson, Margaret (Don) Klopp, Carol (Bob) Larkman, JoAnn (Jim) Walsh; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 21, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St., with Rev. Terrance J. Huebner officiating.   Interment with full military honors will follow at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m.
