Caroline V. (Orttel) Wemmert

Caroline V. Wemmert, age 84, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center with her family at her side.  She was born in Racine, June 26, 1928. The daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Nee: Kout) Orttel, she had been a lifelong resident.

Caroline graduated from Wm Horlick High School. On February 12, 1949, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Robert C. Wemmert.  Caroline was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.  She was an avid bingo player, enjoyed watching the Food Channel, and was a Chicago Bears fan.  Above all, it was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren she enjoyed most.  She will be dearly missed.
                                                     
Surviving are her husband, Bob; six children, Katherine Wemmert, Barbara (Jim) Hyttel, Sharon Lewis, Nancy LaRue, Robert A. (Nancy) Wemmert, Julie (Quintin) Vincent; grandchildren, Amanda Hyttel, Matthew Stukel, Eric Lewis, twins, Denielle and Michelle Lewis, Kevin Wemmert, twins, Monica and Melissa Wemmert, Sarah Kangas, Sterling and Bastian Vincent; great-grandchildren, Gia Bella and Judah; a sister, Barbara Washebek; a brother, Harry Orttel; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, James (Joan) Wemmert, Margaret Wemmert, Ione Wemmert; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Orttel; and brother-in-law, Swish Washebek.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at 11 a.m.  at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St., with Rev. Steve Varghese officiating.  Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy. 32.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family Monday at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Tuesday at the church from 10:30 until time of Mass.  Memorials to the All Saints Garden of Hope have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. John Martini, the entire staff at the ICU and the staff at Lincoln Village Convalescents Center for their loving and compassionate care.
