John Milton Brusko

John M. Brusko, 91, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, June 10, 2012.

John was born in Racine to Paul and Anna (nee: Hutera) Brusko on March 1, 1921.  He lived in Racine for most of his life.  John served in the United States Army during World War II in the South Pacific, from 1941 until December 10, 1945. He was a Sergeant in the 811th Military Police Company. When he returned to Racine, he was united in marriage to Olga Fogsgaard on October 9, 1948.

John was a faithful member of Racine Bible Church. He worked as a Post Office Clerk for 30 years, retiring on January 16, 1981. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE). John enjoyed golf, creating stained glass art including lamps and sun catchers and took many memorable trips to Hawaii. But most importantly, he enjoyed the special times spent with his family.

John is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Olga; son, David (Nancy) Brusko and their children, Jennifer Brusko, Leah (Mike) Rommes and Benjamin Brusko; son, Jim (Mary) Brusko and their children, Michael Brusko and Sarah (Andy) Graf; sister-in-law, Dorothy Brusko. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Anna Brusko; Olga’s parents, Anton and Margaret Fogsgaard; granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Brusko; and two brothers, Paul (Erna) Brusko and Steve Brusko.

Funeral services will be held at the Racine Bible Church, 12505 Spring St., on Friday, June 15, 2012, at noon with Pastor John Miesel officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park with military honors. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 11 a.m. until noon service time. Memorials may be directed to the Racine Bible Church Missionary Fund.

“The Brusko family would like to thank Dr. Paul Durbin and the nursing staff at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints, 2nd floor and 5th floor for their loving and compassionate care of John, and also a special thank you to friend and Pastor, John Miesel, for his support, encouragement and faith for many years.”
