Paul Samuel Haumersen

Mount Pleasant –  Paul S. Haumersen, 80, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, June 28, 2012.

Paul was born in Racine to Charles and Gertrude (nee: Lahr) Haumersen on March 16, 1932. He graduated from Washington Park High School and lived in Racine his whole life. Paul proudly joined the United States Air Force on June 10, 1952, and served for two years. Paul was united in marriage to Bonnie Fredrickson on June 6, 1953, in Racine at Calvary Memorial Church. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force on January 14, 1954.

Paul attended Wheaton College and earned a degree in business. He was proud to be the only father to play with the Wheaton College football team. He graduated in 1956. Paul was employed by Western Publishing in educational sales for 36 years. He retired on July 6, 1992. Paul was a member of Racine Bible Church for 60 years, serving as an Elder, Missionary Committee Chairman and Youth Leader with his wife, Bonnie. Paul enjoyed going up north to the cabins and going to The Villages in Florida. He especially loved spending time with his dear wife who he has loved for 62 years and also his family.

Paul will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 59 years, Bonnie; daughter, Paula (Tom) Cecchini and their children, Rachel and Rob Holmstedt, Kate and Nick Harms and Laura and Phil Patek; son, Peter (Julie) Haumersen and their children, Kelly and Steve Schulz, Tim, Jeff, Marybeth, Dan, Carl, Connie, David and Kathy Haumersen; daughter, Mary (Jim) Brusko and their children, Michael Brusko and Sarah (Andy) Graf; 9 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Merrill Mulder; sisters, Carol (Myron) Wiersum and Sally (Harold) Hay; brother, David (Kathy) Haumersen; and sister-in-law, Jeanne Ballantyne; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gertrude Haumersen; his in-laws, Roy and Luella Fredrickson; a granddaughter, Kimberly Brusko; sister, Jean Mulder; sister,  Louise (Don) Webster and brother, Charles Haumersen.

A memorial service in honor of Paul will be held at Racine Bible Church, 12505 Spring St., Sturtevant, on Tuesday, July 2, 2012, at 6 p.m. with Pastors Spencer DeBurgh and Darien Bowers officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. service time. Private interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to Hope Fellowship Church in Spooner, WI or to Dan and Joan Schneider, SIM.
