Richard E. Skoglund, age 90, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2013, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Richard was born in Norway, MI, on the Fourth of July in 1923, son of the late Ivar and Ellen (nee: Branback) Skoglund.
During World War II, he proudly served in the U.S. Army, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart for his efforts while stationed in the European Theater. On October 1, 1980, he was united in marriage to Alice Wojtecki. Richard was last employed with Jacobsen Mfg. until his retirement. He loved the outdoors and his summers in Minocqua.
Survivors include his loving wife, Alice; brothers, James and Ralph; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Richard was also preceded in death by his prior wife, Helene (nee: Hills); and his brothers, Donald, John, Robert and Ted.
Private family services were held with entombment at West Lawn Memorial Park.
The family extends a special thank you to the gang at Home Harbor and at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints for all of their loving and compassionate care.
