Barbara Ann Lopez, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. Barbara was born in Milwaukee, WI, on December 18, 1939, daughter of the late Walter and Cecilia (Nee: Tarnowski) Kasprzak.
Barbara was raised in Wind Lake and graduated from Waterford High School “Class of 1956.” On June 24, 1957, she was united in marriage to Arsenio “Sam” L. Lopez. She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church. She was employed as a teaching assistant at Racine Unified School District helping special needs students for eight years. Barbara’s pastimes included reading, cross-stitching and traveling, especially to Colorado and Alaska. She cherished time with her family and was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her loving husband of fifty-six years, Sam; her children, Denise Feiner (Patrick Doherty) of Minnetonka, MN, Theresa (Robert) Lui, Cynthia Lopez, Michael (Lisa) Lopez, all of Caledonia; her grandchildren, Erick (Melissa) Mourat, John (Jessica) Feiner, Matthew Lui (Stefanie Rygiewicz), Jennifer Lui, Michelle Lui (fiancé, Daniel Uciechowski), Courtney James (Matthew Krekling), Kayla James; great-grandchildren, Thomas Feiner, Kaitlynn Lui, K’miah, K’mora and Camion Richmond, Eliana Krekling; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and other relatives in Texas; and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ann Kasprzak, Alice (Stanley) Daze, Esther (Norbert) Kierzek and Angeline (Irvin) Werth.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 10, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Ave. Entombment will be held at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Milwaukee. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Joseph’s Indian School, 1301 North Main St., Chamberlain, South Dakota 57325 have been suggested.
