William 'Bill' G. Van Der Zee

William “Bill” G. Van Der Zee, age 93, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Wheaton Franciscan–All Saints Medical Center.  Bill was born in Racine, WI, on September 7, 1920,  son of the late John and Patranella “Nellie” (Nee: DeVeete) Van Der Zee.

On June 19, 1943, he took as his bride LaVerne A. Hendricks.  Bill worked for forty-three years at J.I. Case Company, first as a machine repairman, retiring as a supervisor.   He enjoyed fishing, hunting, Salmon Unlimited and woodworking.  He made many beautiful clocks, hutches and cedar chests.   He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his loving wife of seventy years, LaVerne; his sons, Bill Van Der Zee of FL, Kirt (Lene) Van Der Zee of Oregon; two grandsons, William III and Michael; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Anna Van Der Zee; brothers, John (Esther) and Christ (Irene); and sister, Adrianna (Jerry) Drozd.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 7, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Mark Jones officiating.  Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.  Relatives and friends may meet Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
