Darleen M. (Sheeder) Christensen

Darleen M. Christensen, age 72, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center.  Darleen was born in Adair, Iowa, on November 4, 1941, daughter of the late Kenneth and Helen (Nee:  Lehman) Sheeder.

On October 5, 1968, she was united in marriage to David G. Christensen.  Darleen was employed for a number of years by Young Radiator Company until their closing.  An avid cribbage player, she also enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, needlepoint, gardening and bowling.  She will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her loving husband of forty-five years, David; her children, Doreen (William) Rowe, Daniel (Sheryl) Christensen, Debra (Todd) Luedtke; her four grandchildren, Aiden, Katelyn, Logan and Shyann; brothers, Larry (Donna) Sheeder, Virgil Sheeder; sisters, Marleen (Robert) Frohlich, Twila Sheeder; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Donna Christensen, Diane (James) Kohler; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Combs; and brother, Orville.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014, at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.  Private interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until time of service at 6 p.m.  Memorials to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association have been suggested.
