Norma G. Sorenson, age 98, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at Lakeshore Manor. Norma was born in Waterford, WI, September 28, 1911, daughter of the late Anthony F. and Catherine (Nee: Ruetz) Stratman and was a lifelong resident of Racine.
On October 21, 1939, at Holy Name Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Edwin W. Sorenson who preceded her in death, July 4, 1989. Norma was employed by First National Bank in downtown Racine for thirty-two years. She was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church. Norma enjoyed television and word puzzles. Above all, she was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Doug C. (Susan) Sorenson, Robert (Dian) Sorenson, all of Racine, and “her third son,” Cliff (Mary Ann) Peach of Rogersville, TN; her grandchildren, Ann Marie (Steve) Neerdaels, Mark Douglas Sorenson, Greta Sue (Bill) Schumacher, Christopher John Sorenson (fiancĂ©e, Lisa Orosz), Laura Michele (John) Mulvenna, Wendy Lynn (Guy) Leach, Summer Daniele (Mike) Anderson, Ashlee Ann Sorenson, Lauren Elisha Sorenson (fiancĂ©, Scott Hillis), Derrick Lewno; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Dawn Marie Sorenson; sisters, Margaret (John) Mano, Virginia (Rajko) Petrovic, and Esther (Jacob) Fries; brothers, William (Elaine) Stratman, Alfred Stratman and Charles (Mary) Stratman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church, 1503 Grand Ave., with Rev. Ronald J. Gramza officiating. Interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Kinzie Avenue. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Memorials to St. Richard Catholic Church have been suggested.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr.Jesse DeGroat and the entire staff at Lakeshore Manor for all of their loving and compassionate care.
