Norman F. Harris, 88, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2010.
Norman Harris was born in Racine to the late Stephen and Susan (nee: Goman) Harris on November 12, 1921. He lived in Racine his whole life. He was united in marriage to Florence I. Caskey on November 3, 1973.
Mr. Harris served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was employed by Heinrich Tools for over 35 years, retiring in 1985. He had a passion for gardening and was proud of his apple orchard. He was very handy in woodworking and built his own home. He was mechanically gifted and also enjoyed fishing, hunting, bird watching, trains and cooking.
Norman is survived by his wife, Florence; five children, Diane (Willi) Neuendorf, Barbara (Ronald) Goll, William (Lillian) Klein, Donald (LeaAnn) Klein and Steven (Lauren) Klein; 11 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; two nephews, Bill (Dolly) and Rob Cook; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Wendy Smith; two sisters, Violet and Lillian; one brother, George; and one nephew, Clifton Cook.
A memorial service will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday, February 18, 2010, at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from noon until service time. Inurnment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park at a later date.
