Mary E. 'Bette' (Wheatley) Balthazar

Mary E. “Bette” Balthazar, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center.  She was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on August 30, 1926, daughter of the late Lawrence and Florence (Nee:  Livingston) Wheatley.

On December 22, 1945, she was united in marriage to Kermit Balthazar, who preceded her in death on March 2, 1993.  She was a longtime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.  An avid reader, Bette also enjoyed her card clubs, playing darts and puzzles.  She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her children, Linda Metz,  Jill Dahl (Jim Bednarek),  Randy (Debra) Balthazar, Kim Butchko, Brian Balthazar; grandchildren, Ken Metz, Tim Metz (Kati McKim), Tammy Westberg, Dan (Margaret) Westberg, Connie Friedrich, Holly Thompson, Jarrid Willoughby, Jana Martino, Jordan Butchko, Cora Balthazar, Erin Balthazar; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bernice Bolton, Marian Ludwig, Barbara Lemere; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sister, Leo (Lucille) Wheatley, Fred (Donna) Wheatley, Helen (Paul) Bulik; and brothers-in-law, Lee Bolton and Gerhard Ludwig.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home with AIM Janice Navarro officiating.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Wednesday at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until time of service at 5:30 p.m.
