Norman H. Nelson

Norman H. Nelson passed away at his home on Monday, March 17, 2014, at the age of 95.  He was born in Racine, WI, on April 14, 1918, son of the late Edward and Helen (Nee:  Hauff) Nelson.  He was united in marriage to Marjorie J. Phillips on April 13, 1940.  She preceded him in death on June 5, 1983.

During WWII, Norman served three years with the U.S Army Transportation Corps in the South Pacific.  He was employed at Von Schrader Mfg. from 1939 to 1948 as Traffic Manager and Credit Manager.  In 1948 he took a position at Eisandrath Tanning Corp. as Production Control Manager and was employed there for 18 years.  In 1966 he went to Flagg Tanning Corp. in Milwaukee and worked in a similar capacity for 17 years.  Norman retired in 1983 at age 65.  He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.  He enjoyed the Milwaukee Braves, but especially loved following his grandchildren’s pursuits.  He was loved dearly by his family and friends and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his children, Carol (Gerald) Bonini of Kenosha, Jane (Donald) Norbin of Marine on St. Croix, MN, Mary Goldsworthy of Racine, Paul Nelson of McFarland, WI; ten wonderful grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.  In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jack Goldsworthy; daughter-in-law, Theresa Johnson; and sister, Rita Brinen.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Terrance J. Huebner officiating.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Friday at the funeral home from noon until time of service at 2 p.m. Private interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park.  Memorials to Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation or to the American Heart Association have been suggested.
