Steven Joseph Taleck Sr., age 97, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. He was born in Racine on April 3, 1916, son of the late Estven and Elizabeth (Nee: Jacob) Taleck.
Steve proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Brush during WWII from 1943-1945. He and his brother Guy formed Taleck Brothers Construction and built homes for many years. Steve was a former member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He will be dearly missed.
Surviving are his children, Steven (Cheryl) Taleck Jr. of Surprise, AZ, Gregory (Gail) Taleck of Racine, Barbara Taleck and husband Darrell Hutchinson of Katy, TX; daughter-in-law Linda Taleck; four grandchildren, Paul (Lynn) Taleck, Marcie (Marcos) Martinez, Justine Taleck and Dennis Taleck (fiancée Shilo); four great-grandchildren, Garrett, Ayden, Sebastian and Katherine; a brother, Joseph (Helen) Taleck of Denver, CO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Jo; son, Ronald Taleck; a brother, Guy (Barbara) Tulloch; and two sisters, Elizabeth (Martin) Ketterer and Margaret (Henry) Teska.
Funeral services with full military honors will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 6 p.m. with his nephew, Reverend Thomas Suriano, officiating. Interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Kinzie Avenue. Relatives and friends may meet at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Wheaton Franciscan Hospice have been suggested.
