Clara Kortendick, age 81, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at the Kenosha Memorial Hospital. Clara was born in Bologna, Italy, on January 6, 1930, daughter of the late Gioviani and Ada (Nee: Fanti) Gironi and lived there until adulthood.
Clara and her first husband moved to Argentina where they raised two sons. In 1961 they left Argentina for the USA, settling first in Kenosha, then Racine, WI. Clara was a beautician, studying cosmetology in Italy, Argentina and the United States, working for multiple salons before owning her own salon, “Hair W’ Flair.” A devoted and caring wife, mother and grandmother, Clara was a wonderful Italian cook and an avid reader of her Bible and other books. In addition to becoming fluent in every language of every country she lived in, Clara also learned Polish. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her sons, Edward R (Susan) Bartoszuk of Racine, Thadeus F (Lori) Bartoszuk of Waterford; six grandchildren, Josh (Amy) Bartoszuk, Benjamin (Jessica) Bartoszuk, Luke Bartoszuk, Rueben Bartoszuk, Gina Fitzgerald and Thadeus (Lynn) Bartoszuk Jr.; sisters, Romana Zanine, Luchana Gironi, both of Italy; six great-grandchildren, other relatives and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 24, 2011, at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jason Holm officiating. Private interment will be held. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. until time of service at 3 p.m.
