William L. Babcock, age 85, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2011, at Ridgewood Care Center. He was born in Racine on June 24, 1926, son of the late Charles A. and Zola (Nee: Heim) Babcock.
William proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War. On June 17, 1948, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Racine he was united in marriage to Adriana (Nee: Menheer). He was employed for many years at J.I. Case Company. A charter member of St. Lucy Catholic Church, William was actively involved with the Home and School Association and Boy Scouts in his earlier years. He enjoyed woodworking, but more than anything cherished time spent with family, and his beloved dachshund, Susie. He will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his daughters, JoAnne (Alfred) Hudec, Jean (Ron) Hansen, all of Racine; his grandchildren, Cory Hudec, Sara Hudec, Brian Hudec, Becky (Dustin) Siegrist of Dallas, TX, Christopher (Kerry) Szymanski of Oklahoma City, OK; two great-grandchildren, Simon Freeman and Caden Hudec; sisters, Shirley Ball of Indiana, Barbara Hanson of Racine; special niece, Anette Richey; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert W. Babcock; brother, Wayne C. Babcock; and sister, Margaret Patton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 29, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Private interment will be held. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. Memorials to the Countryside Humane Society, 2706 Chickory Road, Racine, Wl 53403 have been suggested.
