Zeta Allene (Brown) Caredis

Zeta Allene Caredis, age 85, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. Zeta was born in Norton, Kansas, on October 24, 1925, to Alfred Allen and Olive Gertrude (Jones) Brown and had lived in Racine since 1959.

On March 5, 1948, in Lincoln, Nebraska, she was united in marriage to Gerald N. Caredis. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982, her parents and a "chosen daughter," Antonia (Toni) Giallourakis. Survivors include a "chosen son-in-law," three "chosen grandchildren," and three "chosen great-grandchildren," one niece, one great-nephew, one great-niece, cousins and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Kimissis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, 1335 South Green Bay Road, with Fr. John Ketchum officiating. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet Friday at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. (Trisagion Prayer at 7 p.m.). In lieu of flowers, memorials to Children's Art for Children's Cancer Foundation, Inc. (founded by "Toni" Giallourakis) c/o Stamie Despo PO Box 78882 Charlotte NC 28271 or Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Cancer Center 3809 Spring Street Racine, WI 53405 have been suggested.
