Robert 'Bob' A. Greco

Robert “Bob” A. Greco, age 81, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. Bob was born in Racine on September 26, 1929, son of the late Alexander and Antoinette (Nee: Fucilla) Greco.

Bob was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1948” where he excelled in sports. Following high school, Bob was drafted with the farm team for the St. Louis Cardinals. He served in the United States Air Force at Scott Air Force Base. On November 25, 1954, in Burlington he was united in marriage to Ruth M. Zwiebel.

Bob was employed by Wisconsin Electric Company for forty years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. His love for baseball carried throughout his life as he managed DeMark’s 16” Ball Team for many years, played on St. Patrick’s Baseball Team, and was an umpire for many years with the city. He also enjoyed the Friday Bingo bus to Ho Chunk. An avid sports fan, Bob was always a #1 Packer fan. More than anything he cherished time spent with his family and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Ruth; his three children, Wade (Holly) Greco of Austin, TX, Terry (Diane) Greco of Hatboro, PA, Gina Greco of Racine; his two grandchildren, Justin (Amanda) Greco, Ashley Greco; brother, John (Sarah) Greco of Racine; sister, Marie (Lawrence) Johnson of Racine; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John Zwiebel, Betty Zwiebel, Catherine Zwiebel, Helen (Vern) Brook; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 15, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., with Rev. Ronald O. Crewe officiating. Entombment with full military honors will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the church from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m.
