Dorothy Louise Woiteshek

Dorothy L. Woiteshek, 97, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, on February 16, 2012.

Dorothy was born in Racine to Knud and Lydia (nee: Jensen) Nelson on September 24, 1914. She was united in marriage to Irvin Woiteshek on October 5, 1945, in Crown Point, Indiana.

Mrs. Woiteshek worked with the War Defense Department in the factories during World War II to help pay for the war. After the war, along with her husband, she ran a rooming house and cared for the men and her family who lived there. Dorothy was baptized by and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. She had a passion for gardening. She was an avid reader of Nora Roberts novels and worked on crossword puzzles. Dorothy especially enjoyed her trips to and memories of Lake Chippewa Flowage. Most importantly, she knitted a family together with all her love and care.

Dorothy will be dearly missed by her children, Diane (Dennis) Lasko, Dr. Dwight (Maria) Woiteshek, Douglas Woiteshek, Dorothy Kloss and Leo (Frances) Petrouske; 12 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren with a special mention of Erik Elroy Stindle, “My little boy”; a very special friend, Diane Shirley; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin, on March 13, 1991; her parents; brothers, Arnold, Kenneth and infant brother, Stanley; sisters, Verna, Delta and Irene.

Funeral services will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Monday, February 20, 2012, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Denise M. H. Mbise officiating. Interment will be held privately at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon, February 19, 2012, from 4 until 6 p.m. and on Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

The Woiteshek family gives a special thank you to Dr. Michael Mullane and his staff, Mary Jenson, and the entire staff at Wheaton Franciscan Home & Hospice Healthcare for their loving and compassionate care.
