Oscar Edward Haigh

Oscar E. Haigh, 66, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, February 23, 2012.

Oscar was born in Racine to Oscar J. and Germaine (nee: Barcome) Haigh on October 8, 1945. He was a lifelong resident of Racine and during his school years he lettered in football and played the trumpet and cello.

Oscar was honorably discharged from the United States Army where he served in Vietnam as a Communications Lineman. He was employed by Zignego Ready Mix for 25-plus years, retiring on October 8, 2007. Oscar enjoyed the outdoors including boating, fishing, camping and hunting. He also loved to travel around Wisconsin to visit family and to find new restaurants. Oscar was a “Candy Man”; he loved his sweets, especially mint Lifesavers. But most importantly, he was proud of his children and grandchildren and enjoyed the many good times spent with his family.

Oscar will be dearly missed by his daughters, Kim E. Dominguez (Earl Owen), Brenda K. (Johnnie) Felix and Jenni A. (Clint) Bucholz; sons, Eric O. (Kim) Haigh and Nathan E. (Alexa) Haigh; grandchildren, Alex, Isiah, Kaitlyn, Marisa, Haili, Amelia, Nathan W., Jayden, Marin, Adalyn and Willow; his soul mate of 22 years, Sharon Holt; sisters, Judy Kovars, Bonnie (Don) Bonine and Sheila (Robin) Larrabee; brothers, Keith Haigh and Richard (Rosie) Haigh; brother-in-law, Keith Stephan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Laverne Bunck and Roseann Stephan.

A celebration of Oscar’s life will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on February 29, 2012 at 11:30 a.m.  Interment with full military honors will follow at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 10 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warriors Project. - www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
