Sarah Rose DeRose

With her family by her side, Sarah Rose DeRose, age 82, passed away Friday, February 3, 2012, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. She was born September 22, 1929, in Capo d’Orlando, Sicily, Italy, daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Nee: Catrine) Lipari and immigrated to the United States at the age of six.

Sarah was a graduate of Wm. Horlick High School. On November 20, 1948, at St. Rita Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Rocco E. DeRose, who preceded her in death October 13, 2006. Sarah was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. An avid gardener, she loved her many years of employment with Milaeger's. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining for her family and friends. More than anything, Sarah cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her two children, Nicholas (Ann) DeRose, Rochelle (Eugene) Herrick; three grandchildren, Gina DeRose, Sarah DeRose and Emma Herrick; brothers and sisters, Dominic Lipari, Anthony (Olivia) Lipari, Constance (Glen) Kurhajec; sister-in-law, Phyllis DeRose; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Frank Rizzo; and her sister-in-law, Alberta Lipari.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Ronald O. Crewe officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home Monday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the entire staff at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints for their loving and compassionate care.
