Gerald 'Jerry' D. Wishau

Gerald “Jerry” D. Wishau, age 75, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at the Hospice House, Pleasant Prairie, WI. Jerry was born in Racine on August 10, 1936, son of the late Leland F. and Otilia (Nee: Repa) Wishau.

He proudly served in the United States Army. On April 26, 1958, he was united in marriage to Jean K. Hansen. Jerry was employed by Wisconsin Natural Gas for thirty-two years until his retirement in 1994. He served as Trustee for the Village of Wind Point for over twenty years. Jerry enjoyed singing with the Racine Dairy Statesmen and square dancing with the Circle 8 Club. In his younger years he enjoyed boating and water skiing. A farmer at heart, Jerry loved his time on his land, gardening for his vegetable stand and splitting wood. More than anything he cherished time spent with his family, especially the Sunday afternoon picnics at “the farm.” He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-three years, Jean; his children, Brenda Booker, Tammy (Dave) Haertle, Brian “Ruppert” (Vicki) Wishau, Kevin (Brenda) Wishau, all of Racine; eight grandchildren, Jesse (Stephanie) Booker, Erin (Ryan) Carbajal, Mark and Greg Haertle, Jakob and Sydney Wishau, Elijah and Zoe Wishau; three great-grandchildren, Riley and Reece Booker, Micah Carbajal; brothers, Floyd (Beverly) Wishau of Racine, Kenneth (Marcia) Wishau of Rochester, NY; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Wishau of Racine, Nancy Wishau of AZ; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Leslie and Russell.

A Prayer Service will be held Sunday, February 19, 2012, at the funeral home at 5 p.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Sunday at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until time of the Prayer Service at 5 p.m. Private interment with full military honors will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Memorials to St. John Nepomuk Church or to Hospice Alliance have been suggested.
