Alfred E. Sorensen Jr.

Alfred E. Sorensen Jr. started his new life on God’s golf course at 12:36 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2014.  He was born in Racine on July 23, 1940, son of the late Alfred and Sophie (Nee: Ruppel) Sorensen Sr.

On May 10, 1980, he was united in marriage to Sandra Lee Eckert.  Al was employed by Racine Hydraulics for 43 years, retiring in 2001 from Bosch.  In his early years Al served as a Scout leader.  He loved golfing and was most proud of his “hole in one.”  Al won the Senior Golf Outing in 2012, placed 2nd in 2013 and was a member of the Johnson Park Tuesday Golf League.  He was also an avid bowler who bowled a perfect 300 game, for which he received a “300” ring.   Al enjoyed time spent with the Tuesday Schafkopf at Harbor Lite Yacht Club and time spent fishing.  Above all, it was his family and his canine companion, Brandi, he treasured the most.  He will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his wife, Sandra Lee “Runt”; children, Robert (Lori) Sorensen, Kim (Don) Veltus, Todd Sorensen, Kevin (Roberta) Johnson, Dawn Johnson, Colleen Stich, Wendy (Robert) Hayek; “extended family” Carly (Adam) Geyer and Brandon Ferraro, David Reed; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dennis (Patricia) Sorensen, Timothy (Barbara) Sorensen;   nieces nephews, other relatives and many golf, bowling and fishing cohorts.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Pat Devine; twin great-granddaughters; and canine companion, Misty; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clair and Grace Eckert.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at 11 a.m.  Relatives and friends may meet on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

A very special thank you to all of the Doctors, Specialists, Nurses and caregivers who gave Alfred and family  lots of love, hugs and encouragement during our family’s time of need.
