Arlene E. (Harris) Sorensen

Arlene Sorensen (née: Harris), who was born on October 12, 1924, found peace on June 15, 2014. The beloved wife of John William Sorensen, she passed away peacefully at Waterford Memory Care facilities in the company of her husband and sons Tom and Jay at the age of 89.

Mom married her high school sweetheart, John Sorensen on June 16, 1944. Together they started a grocery business, Johnnies Foods in Wind Lake, Wisconsin, in 1951 and later converted the store to Johnnies Liquor Mart. They retired in 1980 and moved back to their hometown of Racine, WI.

Arlene leaves behind her husband, John; sons Tom, Jay (Karen); sister-in-law, Phyllis Harris; and eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many other relatives.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Allay Home and Hospice Services for their loving care given to Mom and family members. We also want to thank Waterford Senior Memory Care and their dedicated staff for the great care they have provided for our parents
