Shirley L. (Robinson) Jens

Shirley L. Jens, age 91, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2014, at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center.  Shirley was born in Racine on November 29, 1922, daughter of the late Clifford and Anna (Nee:  Andersen) Robinson.

Shirley was a graduate of Washington Park High School “Class of 1939.”  On December 9, 1945, she was united in marriage to John P. Jens, who preceded her in death.  Shirley was employed by J.C. Penney for over twenty years, last working at Northside Pharmacy.  She also worked part-time at Jan’s Card Shop.   Shirley was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.  An avid reader, Shirley also was an excellent cook who will be fondly remembered for her delicious cookies.   More than anything, she treasured time with her family. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her son, John Jens of Racine; her granddaughter, Kristen Jens of Greenfield; special friend, Judy Morano of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Barbara Robinson, Flora Johnson; brothers, Charles (Florence) Robinson and George Christie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1100 Erie St., with Rev. Antony Thomas officiating.  Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m.  Memorials to St. Patrick Catholic Church have been suggested.
