Burton M. Cohen

Burton M. Cohen, age 71, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2010, at the Hospitality Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kenosha. He was born in Milwaukee on July 4, 1939, son of the late Theodore and Bessie (Nee: Sires) Cohen.

Burton proudly served his country in the US Army. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Hunter on June 18, 1977 at Faith Lutheran Church in Sturtevant. He owned and operated ACME Scrap Iron for many years until his retirement in 1998.

Burton was a member of Grace Church, Sturtevant Kiwanis Club, Trustee for the Sturtevant Board of Directors and was instrumental for the Sturtevant Volunteer Fire Dept. merging to a Career Fire Dept. He was an avid bowler and Packer fan. Above all he was a dedicated husband and father and cherished time spent with his grandchildren. He was loved dearly and will be sadly missed.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann; daughters, Fran (Larry) DeRosier of Burlington and Marcie (Lonnie) Brim of Racine; seven grandchildren, Dominick, Myles, Kyle, and Hannah DeRosier; Tyler, Mikayla and Elizabeth Brim; sister, Margot (Jack) Paz; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and other dear friends. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his sister, Ellyn Wheeler.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 30, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dan Petersen officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for Visitation on Tuesday at 5 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Private entombment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park.

A very special thank you to the entire staff at Hospitality Nursing and Rehab Center, Kenosha, especially Shawna, Annie and Misty for their loving and compassionate care given to Burt.
