Lucy P. Simonsen, age 65, entered the arms of her loving savior, November 10, 2010, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Lucy was born in Yorkville, WI, September 30, 1945, daughter of the late Sigmund and Calantha (Nee: Tilford) Kuchcinski.
Lucy was a graduate of Washington Park High School “Class of 1963.” On February 17, 1973, at Calvary Memorial Church of Racine, she was united in marriage to Kenneth R. Simonsen. Lucy was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant for many years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Sturtevant. Lucy was known as “Mystery the Magical Clown,” and she and her husband owned and operated “Magic by Simonsen & Company”. Lucy was a 20-year member of International Brotherhood of Magicians, serving as President for two years. She also belonged to the Fellowship of Christian Magicians and Society of American Magicians. Not only was Lucy a magician but as a clown she had a magical way of making people happy. She enjoyed face painting, balloon sculpturing, sewing costumes, crocheting and playing solitaire. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her loving husband of 38 years, Ken; her brothers, Robert Kuchcinski, Raymond (Josie) Kuchcinski, Thomas Kuchcinski; sister, Mary (Joseph) Wade; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Debra (Ed) Elfstrom, James Schnetz; estranged brother, Elmer Kuchcinski; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph; sister, Lorraine Waydick; and sister-in-law, Karen Schnetz.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 9122 Durand Ave., with Rev. Richard Rodgers officiating. Private interment will be held. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Memorials to the Epilepsy Society have been suggested.
