Marian M. (Streit) Sheforgen

Marian M. Sheforgen, age 91, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010, at the Jewish Home and Care Center, Milwaukee, WI. Marian was born in Ashton, Iowa, January 29, 1919, daughter of the late Anthony B. and Mary E. (Nee: Staudacher) Streit.

On July 19, 1941, Marian was united in marriage to Bernard M. Sheforgen, who preceded her in death on April 24, 1991. She was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. Marian was a wonderful cook and baker, cooking and baking her way into the hearts of others. “Cinnamon rolls anyone?” She was an ordinary person whose life was extraordinary because of the kindness and caring she gave to all who met her, making them kinder and more caring in return. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Thomas (Joan) Sheforgen of Boulder, CO, Joan Sheforgen of Elmhurst, IL, Richard (Mary Kay) Sheforgen of Racine, Judith Chaney of West Allis, WI, Jerome (Melanie) Sheforgen of Pleasant Prairie, WI; her five grandchildren, Marc (Dawn) Sheforgen, Erin Moneypenny, Elizabeth (Brian) Williams, Leah Sheforgen and Neal Sheforgen; her four great-grandchildren, Mac, Oscar, Emily and Sophia; brothers and sisters, Donald (Marg) Streit of Iowa, Anthony (Mary) Streit of CO, Leonard (Luella) Streit, James Streit, all of Iowa, Kathleen Richter of South Dakota, Betty Jane DeWall of Nebraska; sister-in-law, Barbara Streit of Iowa, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Roy Chaney; brothers, Robert Streit, Paul (Shirley) Streit; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Phyllis Streit, Norbert Richter, and Frank DeWall.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, November 11, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Wednesday at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. (Rosary recited at 7 p.m.) and Thursday at church from 10:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. Memorials to the Parkinson’s Foundation have been suggested.

Marian’s family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the caregivers at the Jewish Home and Care Center, Odyssey Hospice, and especially to her caregivers at Home Instead Senior Care including: Carol, Crystal, Dawn, Fatush, Kay, LaTosha, Michelle, Nakia, Shirley, Bernadette and Jeanne for their loving and compassionate care.
