Francis J. 'Frank' Derrick

Pleasant Prairie -- Francis J. Frank Derrick, age 87, passed away Friday November 26, 2010, at the Grand Prairie Health and Rehabilitation Center. Francis Joseph was born July 23, 1923, in Bradford, PA, son of the late Frank and Margaret (nee: Norpel) Derrick.

During World War II, Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Army while stationed in the Pacific Theater. He graduated from DePaul University with a degree in Business. On August 27, 1949, Frank was united in marriage to Phyllis Costuma at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in Brookfield, IL. He was employed as a claims adjustor with United Insurance for twenty-two years before his retirement in 1985. An avid reader, he enjoyed educating himself especially with topics concerning the Civil War and Russia. He will be best remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Phyllis; three sons, Stephen (Rhonda) Derrick of Florence, AL, Michael (Linda) Derrick of Lake in the Hills, IL, Kevin (Lisa) Derrick of Pleasant Prairie; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Frank was also preceded in death by his sister and her husband, Bette and James Deering.

A memorial service will be held at Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove on Monday, December 6, 2010, at 2 p.m. with Full Military Honors.
