Janice C. (Larkin) Hemple

Janice C. Hemple, age 75, passed away early Monday morning, November 22, 2010, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Janice was born in Racine May 9, 1935, and graduated from St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1953.”

On November 2, 1957, Janice was united in marriage to the love of her life, Richard H. Hemple. He preceded her in death March 19, 1988. She was employed with Western Publishing for forty-two years until her retirement in 1997. For many years, Janice volunteered at the hospital in the All Saints gift shop and participated in the Get Off Your Rocker program. She also enjoyed antiques, dog sitting, shopping, flower gardening and all around “good fun.” Janice will be remembered for her quick wit, her engaging conversations, her great memory and outgoing personality. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her sisters, Judith J. Sargent, Jerrilyn J. Hall, Nora K. (Bill) Kusters; nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Dan) Miller, Christian J. Doyle, Kristin (Noel) Prophet; great-nephews, Amun and Talos Prophet and Ethan C. Miller; other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, Janice was also preceded in death by her parents, Lyle Larkin and Mary (Steve) Schmaling, and her brother-in-law, Robert Hall.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St., Saturday November 27, 2010, at 9:30 a.m., with Rev. William J. Dietzler officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Memorials to the American Lung Association have been suggested.

The family extends a special thank you to nurses Samantha and Jean in the ICU and the staff in the Pulmonary Department for all of their loving and compassionate care.
