Helen (Haliz) Vukich

Helen Vukich, age 83, passed away Monday, February 7, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Helen was born in Racine on August 8, 1927, daughter of the late Alex and Justine (Nee: Shukatka) Haliz and was a lifelong Racine resident.

On July 31, 1954, she was united in marriage to Dusan “John” Vukich who preceded her in death, December 19, 1997. Helen was a kind lady and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her stepson, Peter Schmidt; nieces, Marilyn Nett, Anne Baggesen; nephew, Norman Schultz; dear friends, Kitty Frank and Mitza Ingram; her furry companion, Hasselbeck; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary (Peter) Schultz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green St., with Rev. Don Zirkel officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m.
