John 'Jack' T. Heinen

John “Jack” T. Heinen, age 77, passed away Friday, February 25, 2011, at his residence. He was born in Milwaukee, WI, on February 26, 1933, son of the late Leopold and Gertrude (Nee: Damask) Heinen.

Jack proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. On February 13, 1993, he was united in marriage to Kathryn R. Ahnen. Jack owned and operated Heinen Construction for many years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed year-'round fishing on Lake Michigan and charter fishing in Alaska and Mexico. He also enjoyed reading, golfing and playing in various dartball leagues over a span of forty years. Jack had a great love for the Packers and his dogs, but above all cherished time spent with his family and his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his wife and best friend, Kathy; his children, Lynn Thompson, Joseph (Robin) Heinen, Randy (Diana) Peterson, Christopher Peterson, Virginia (Robert) Orth, Matthew (Chris) Peterson, Mark (Karen) Peterson, Antoinette (Darryl) Liddell; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Eugene (Marian) Heinen; sisters, Betty Edwards, Audrey Drew, Phyllis Heinen (Frank); brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson, James Lovett.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 4, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1100 Erie St., with Rev. Antony Primal Thomas and Rev. Ricardo Martin concelebrating. Private interment will be held. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday at the church from 10:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. Memorials to St. Patrick Catholic Church or to John the XXIII Education Center have been suggested.
