Sue Johnson

Mrs. Sue Johnson (nee: Tuinstra), 92, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2011, with her loving grandchildren at her side.

Sue was born in Raymond Center to Fred and Greta Tuinstra on April 23, 1918, and she was united in marriage to George A. Johnson in Horse Heads, NY, on October 31, 1938. She lived most of her life in Racine and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

Sue lived her life taking care of everyone around her and, along with George, was always willing to help out those in need. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always had goodies at her home for little visitors. She participated in several bowling leagues for over six decades. She generously gave her time and energy for wallpapering, sewing and other projects.

Preceding Mrs. Johnson in death in 2001 was George, her beloved husband of 62 years. Surviving are her children and spouses, Ellen Jane (Robert) Drisner of Palm City, FL., Richard George (Lynne) Johnson of Chesterfield, MO; and six grandchildren and spouses, Sheryl (Greg) Mueller, Susan (Scott) Gaertig, Steven Drisner, Todd (Marcie) Johnson, Karen (Doug) Buchanan and Jeff (Carrie) Johnson. Also surviving are her 13 “great-ones” Abigail, Anna, Robert and Bethany Gaertig, Allison and Jack Mueller, Seth and William Johnson, Clayton, Clark, and Crew Buchanan, and Megan and Kathryn Johnson. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and good friends from the old neighborhood. Also preceding Mrs. Johnson in death were her parents and her seven brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday, February 10, 2011, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
