Lyle Peterson

Lyle Peterson, age 91, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.  Lyle was born in Racine, August 13, 1918, son of the late Albert and Florence T. (Nee:  Bronson) Peterson and was a lifelong resident.

On May 18, 1940, Lyle was united in marriage to Leone E. Hoffman who preceded him in death, July 24, 1998.   During World War II he proudly served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific.  Lyle was a partner who owned and operated Imperial Tool for many years, retiring from Victory Tool in 1998.  Lyle coached Little League in Franksville for a number of years and served as president of Racine County Little League.  He was also a member of the American Legion.  In his younger years Lyle was a Golden Glove boxer.   Lyle was an avid Wisconsin sports fan of the Packers, Brewers, and Braves and also enjoyed gardening.  Above all he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.  

Survivors include his seven children, Nancy Hoppe, Pat Miller, of Racine, Peter (Betty) Peterson of Burlington, Jill (Autrey) Barker of Ft. Smith, AR, James (Sheri) Peterson of Saukville,  Jacqueline Mrkvicka of Minneapolis, MN, Kathy Peterson and Craig Gummow of Racine; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; sisters and brothers, Shirley (William) Dougard of Estero, FL,  Ronald Peterson of Racine; sisters-in-law, Violet (Harry) Halbach of Waterford, Beverly Lawrence of Racine; very dear friend, Evelyn “Joanie” Drinkwine of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.  In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his sons-in-law, Ray Hoppe and Autry Barker.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 23, 2010, at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.  Interment with full military honors will be held Saturday, at 11 a.m. at West Lawn Memorial Park.  Please meet at the entrance.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until time of service at 6 p.m.
