Jerald D. Hinke

Jerald D. Hinke, age 85, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2010. Jerry was born in Jim Falls on July 12, 1925, son of the late Dietrich and Ann (Nee: Bennett) Hinke.

Jerry attended Vance Elementary School in Jim Falls and Chippewa Falls High School. In World War II Jerry proudly served in the Americal Division of the United States Army. He saw action in the South Pacific and served in the occupation of Japan. On August 16, 1947, he was united in marriage to Elaine F. Mills. He graduated with a degree in engineering from Iowa State. Jerry was employed at J.I. Case for twenty-nine years, retiring in 1987.

Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-three years, Elaine; his children, Theresa (Robert) Klaus, Katie (Tom) Herzog, Mike (Aurelia) Hinke, John (special friend Carol) Hinke, Julie (Tom) Hopkins, Pat (Marjorie) Hinke, Dotty (Bill) Schulz, Ann (Larry) Charles, Jerry (April) Hinke; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ethel Hinke; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bernard, Gene, Edward; sisters, Lucille Sebeston, Julia Murphy; and sister-in-law, Eunice Erickson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, December 16, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 3100-95th St., with Rev. Paul L. Raczynski officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Wednesday at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. Memorials to St. Sebastian Catholic Church have been suggested.
