Mary J. (Lipari) Rizzo

Surrounded by her loving family, Mary J. Rizzo, age 84, passed away Sunday, December 5, 2010, at Willowcrest Care Center, South Milwaukee, WI. Mary was born in Capo d’ Orlando, Italy, on October 20, 1926, daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Nee: Catrine) Lipari.

On October 7, 1950, she was united in marriage to Frank J. Rizzo, who preceded her in death, June 7, 2000. Mary had been employed by Western Publishing for ten years and at Heckel’s Restaurant for fifteen years. Mary was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church. She will forever be remembered for her excellent culinary skills as a baker and cook specializing in her world-famous cudutti, petit fours, accordion cakes and bride doll cakes. Mary enjoyed crafts, traveling, knitting, crocheting, gardening and frequent visits to the casinos. More than anything, she treasured time with her family and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Carmella “Cookie” (Jim) Hyduke of Racine; her grandsons, Jon and Kyle Hyduke; her brothers and sisters, Dominic Lipari, Anthony (Olivia) Lipari, Sarah DeRose, Constance (Glen) Kurhajec, all of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Casper and Carmella Rizzo; sister-in-law, Alberta Lipari; and brother-in-law, Rocco DeRose.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, December 9, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Ave., with Rev. Kevin Mullins OSA officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m.

Mary’s family wishes to extend its sincere gratitude to all the caregivers at Willowcrest for their loving and compassionate care.
