Wardlow W. Allen

Wardlow W. Allen, age 90, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2010, at his residence. He was born in Racine, March 14, 1920, son of the late William and Alice (Nee: Rasmussen) Allen.

During World War II, Ward was stationed in Eye, England, with the Army Air Corps as part of the Mighty 8th Air Force, 490th Bomb Group. On November 24, 1945, he was united in marriage to Gartha Everett, who preceded him in death October 22, 2009.

Ward was a musician and a well-known drummer who for 50 years played in various bands including the Nile Fuller Band and his own, the Ward Allen Trio. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially telling “tall tales” to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all.

Surviving are his children, Vikki Berns, Michael (Chris) Allen, Connie Peterson (Larry Perfetto), Ronald (Theresa) Allen; six grandchildren, Erich, Tyler, Jacob, Jennifer, Randal and Tracy; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Shepard; sisters-in-law, Nora Bell and Lela Klabunde; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert.

Private services with full military honors will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
