Mrs. Metha V. Sewell, 96, passed away at Ridgewood Care Center on Friday, April 22, 2011.
Metha was born in Racine to the late H. Emil and Emma (Nielsen) Hansen on May 2, 1914. She lived in Racine all her life. In Racine, she was united in marriage to Ronald W. Sewell on July 25, 1936. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1986.
Mrs. Sewell was a lifelong member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church. She was employed at Western Printing Company, Sears and Goldblatt's. She enjoyed gardening, canning and freezing the fruits of her work. What was most important to her was that she worked hard as a homemaker, supporting and caring for family.
Metha is survived by four children, Barbara (Gerald) Seitz of Racine, Fred (June) Sewell of Racine, David (Mary) Sewell of Portland, Oregon, and Robert (Diane) Sewell of LaCrosse; ten grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Kermit Hansen; and other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her son, James Sewell, on October 15, 1985; two brothers and one sister.
A funeral ceremony will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Monday, April 25, 2011, at noon with Rev. Alice Horton officiating. Interment will follow at Mound Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 11 a.m. until the time of the ceremony.
