Calvin C. Kousek

Calvin C. Kousek, age 92, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2013, at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. Calvin was born in Racine on March 20, 1921, son of the late Albert and Josephine (Nee: Jadrny) Kousek.

During World War II, Calvin proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps, and was a longtime member of the American Legion and EAA. He was united in marriage to Methodia “Mitzi” C. Zalesak, who preceded him in death on August 26, 1991. Calvin was employed for many years at Massey–Harris-Ferguson, retiring from the Ladish Company in 1984.

He was a member and usher at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Calvin enjoyed bowling and golfing with the Johnson Park Leagues, and recently playing Schafskopf. More than anything, he cherished time spent with his family and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his children, Karen (Mark) Thomsen of Racine, Susan Kousek of Reston, VA, Ken (Shelley) Kousek of Kirra, Queensland, Australia; his grandchildren, Lisa (Kenny) Spirewka, David Thomsen, Kendall Kousek, Rachel Kousek; his great-grandchildren, Avery and Ellery Spirewka; sister-in-law, Carol Kousek of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Albert “Buddy” Kousek.

A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Kenneth Mich officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Monica’s Senior Citizen Home or Wheaton Franciscan Hospice have been suggested.
