On Friday, November 8, 2013, Kathleen R. Johansen, “Nana Kay,” age 85, was reunited with her husband Robert in Heaven. She was born in Racine on January 17, 1928, daughter of the late John and Josephine (Nee: Latka) Flynn.
Kathleen attended St. Catherine’s High School and the Layton School of Arts in Milwaukee, where she met her husband, Robert. They were married on January 29, 1949. Kathleen was a member of St. Lucy’s Catholic Church. She was a very caring, unselfish and loving wife, mother and grandmother with a beautiful soul and will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her children, “The Johansen Originals,” Christine (Milton in spirit) Hoffman of Glendale, John Johansen of Racine, Ann (Dan) Worden of Racine, Roberta (Bill) Gray of Sturtevant, Lawrence (Sheree) Johansen of Appleton, Paul (Christie) Johansen of Rockford, IL; her adored grandchildren, Robert and David Hoffman, Danielle and Andrew Worden, Jesse (Jill) and Casey Wielgat, Kyle (Amy) and Danielle Gray, Brad, Dana (Spencer Nickelatti), Sam and Max Johansen, Kyle, Morgan and Erin Johansen; great-grandchildren, Max Gray, Noah and Luke Wielgat; sisters-in-law, Joan, Jayne and Vi; special nieces and nephews; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lawrence Flynn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., with Reverend Mark Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet Wednesday at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. (A Time of Remembering at 7 p.m.) and Thursday at the church from 10:30 a.m. until time of Mass.
