Lloyd A. Johnson, age 93, passed away on November 16, 2013, at the Becker-Shoop Center with family at his bedside. Lloyd was born in Racine on June 29, 1920, son of the late Christian and Amanda (Nee: Johnson) Johnson.
During World War II he proudly served in the United States Army. Lloyd was employed for many years with the United States Postal Service. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. Lloyd’s true passion was for singing. For many Memorial and Veteran’s Days he would lead the National Anthem and he and his wife would sing at the Sunday services at the Lincoln Lutheran Home. Lloyd also had a passion for bowling and volunteering his services to the community. He will be deeply missed and remembered by all.
Survivors include his children, Jerry (Sherry) Johnson of Waunakee, Timothy (Lisa) Johnson of Saguache, CO; grandchildren, Todd (Jenny) Johnson, Kent (Christina) Johnson, Julie Sheriff, Brian Johnson, Jara Johnson (Tim Zingler); great-grandchildren, Cody, Shawn, Vance, Mac, Mia, Cole, Gavin and Ava; brother, William Johnson of Racine; sister-in-law, Rita Hansen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita (Nee: Welk) Johnson; second wife, Ellen (Nee: Hansen) Johnson; sisters, Dorothy Selsus, Eunice Nelson; and brother, Roger.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 322 Ohio St., with Rev. James Barsch officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.
